Description: This print was commissioned to celebrate the opening of the “Children of the Raven Gallery” at the National Museum of Man in Ottawa in 1975. Bill Reid later issued a modified version of the print, replacing the figures in the clam shell with full heads.
Biography: Bill Reid (1920 - 1998)
The work of Bill Reid, Haida, a goldsmith turned sculptor, carver and writer, ranges from the most intricate to the monumental -- in wood carving, exquisite silver and gold jewellery, beautiful prints and massive sculptures. Reid was the pivotal force in introducing the great native art traditions of the Northwest Coast to the world.
